Handyman jailed for allegedly raping woman in Otay Mesa

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 33-year-old handyman jailed this week on suspicion of raping a woman at her South Bay home was released on bail Thursday, authorities reported.

Isaac Acuna of San Diego allegedly made sexual advances toward the National City woman on Tuesday morning, then forcibly assaulted her when she rejected him, according to police.

Detectives arrested Acuna the following day on Piccard Street in Otay Mesa, after putting his home under surveillance and then following him for a short distance when he drove away, Sgt. Alejandro Hernandez said.

The suspect had been working for the victim for several days before the alleged attack occurred, the sergeant said.

Acuna posted bail and was released from custody this morning, a jail clerk said.
