Hazardous material prompts evacuation at UCSD

SAN DIEGO – A hazardous-materials team has been dispatched to UC San Diego, where some sort of possibly hazardous substance has spilled in a chemistry laboratory in a social sciences building off John Jay Hopkins and North Point drives, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

There are no reports of injuries.

Emergency crews have evacuated the structure as a precaution while cleanup proceeds.
