Health Report: Stem cells and sports
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – It was an unforgettable scene this past Thanksgiving as legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback Bart Starr walked onto the field after undergoing state of the art stem cell treatments.
Those stem cells were manufactured right here in San Diego.
But now it looks like active players may be joining the trend of stem cell treatments.
Running-back for the Kansas City Chiefs Jamaal Charles recently tore his ACL, ending his season.
But he said he will return next season after undergoing a stem cell treatment of his own.
The question is, what does the future hold for stem cells and sports?
Stem Cell Expert Dr. Larry Goldstein sat down with KUSI with more on these developing treatments.
