Helix 42, Bonita Vista 0

On Friday, the 3-1 Helix Highlanders welcomed the 1-3 Bonita Vista Barons to their home field in order to play a friendly game of football. However, the Highlanders had a different definition of “friendly” in mind.

Within the first quarter, the Scotties built up a 21-0 lead over the Barons. By halftime, they had doubled it to 42-0. The Barons made some halftime adjustments and kept the Highlanders scoreless in the second half; Helix pulled their starters in the fourth quarter. Bonita Vista fought hard all the way to the end of the game, the Barons recovered a Scotties fumble at the goal line in the last play of the night.

Unfortunately for the Barons, the Highlanders showed no mercy in the game with the final score amounting to 42-0. Helix’s running back Nathan Stinson had 11 carries for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns, one for 56 yards and the other for 1 yard. Next week the Highlanders will face the 5-0 Steele Canyon team at home and will attempt to give the Cougars their first loss of the season. Bonita Vista will be taking on the 1-5 Chula Vista Spartans as both teams look to bounce back from tough losses.
