Helix 42, Mt. Miguel 0
Fans from both sides of the stands flooded tonight’s game as the Matadors of Mount Miguel High school hosted the Helix Highlanders. It was the Scotties win to take, they defeated the Matadors 42-0.
It was great night offensively for the 5-1 Highlanders. They dominated the running game and capitalized on third down conversions. They’re defense were even better forcing Mt. Miguel’s to three and outs all night. Starting the game off right was QB Michael Austin on the quarterback keep, who went 40 yards to the end zone. On their following drive it was Nathan Stinson and his 45 yard touchdown run putting the Scotties up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Mt. Miguel had an amazing scoring opportunity at the final seconds of the second quarter after a fumble was recovered by the Matadors. With 12 seconds left, the Matadors went for a pass to the end zone but was intercepted by Evan Perkins as he ran it all the way back for 100 yards; putting another touchdown on the board 28-0, at the half.
In the third, Helix dominated this quarter with Austin finding Mekhi Stevenson for a 24 yard touchdown pass and Austin to Nick Soliz 19 yard touchdown pass. 42-0 was the score at the end of the third. The running clock was on in the fourth and the Scotties took their second conference win.
