Hillside Rec Center in El Cajon set to reopen
EL CAJON (CNS) – A grand reopening celebration is scheduled in El Cajon Tuesday afternoon at Hillside Recreation Center, which has been closed for six months for renovations.
The 40-year-old facility’s gymnasium and exterior have been remodeled, the heating and air-conditioning system was replaced, and improvements were made for the disabled, city officials said.
The recreation center that serves the west side of the city will host a celebration beginning at 4 p.m. Mayor Bill Wells and members of the City Council will make remarks. The event will also include music and dance performances, cookie baking, and kids arts and crafts activities.
Funding for the project came from a voter-approved sales tax increase.
