Hit and run survivor calls on city to create safer streets

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego Planning Commissioner Vicki Granowitz released a graphic video on Tuesday of a hit-and-run accident that nearly took her life — calling on all San Diegans to do their part to help prevent such vehicle crashes.

The accident gave Granowitz  a concussion, she lost several teeth and fractured her knee in two different places. Granowitz says in the video the driver clearly is looking down, not paying any attention at the time of the crash.

One year later, she and Circulate San Diego, a nonprofit that promotes mobility projects, are calling out distracted driving and calling on the city to increase funding for pedestrian and bicycle safety.
