Home Start’s Bright Futures Candles helps women facing homelessness

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Through Home Start’s Maternity Housing Program, an organization called Bright Futures Candles is helping young women facing homelessness create something that will make them hopeful for their future.

Women enrolled in the program helped design the candle-making workspace and were trained to operate the candle-making machinery. Each candle is hand-made right here in San Diego!

This social enterprise offers additional income to serve vulnerable children and their families as well as job training and employment opportunities.

Laura Tancredi-Base, CEO of Home Start, and Mariah, Candle-Creator, were in studio to tell us more.
