Homeless man killed, another injured in Santee
SANTEE (CNS) – A homeless man was killed and another injured in a fight with several people under a freeway overpass in Santee, authorities said Sunday.
Sheriff’s deputies and medics were sent to check out the report of the melee on a bike trail in the 9300 block of Mission Gorge Road, underneath state Route 52, around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, sheriff’s homicide Lt. John Maryon said.
The arrived to find one transient man dead and another injured. Maryon said both had sustained blunt force injuries to their bodies, but the county Medical Examiner’s Office would make the ultimate determination of how the victim died.
Deputies later detained four adults and a juvenile in connection with the fight, Maryon said. No names or ages were available this morning.
