Homeless rally against making it illegal to live in cars

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – This April, City Council proposed making it illegal to live in your car and to get them out of residential areas and areas near schools.

In response a group of homeless people will be arguing today against this proposal. They argue they were laid off, they are disabled, they’re veterans, or just don’t make enough money to pay the high rents in San Diego, which is why they live in their car or RV.

They are urging council to reject this new law and develop real solutions to the affordable housing and homelessness crisis.

And another issue is the Council keeps going back and forth. Last February, the Council repealed the law after a federal judge found it unconstitutional then a couple weeks later, the mayor introduced a new law that targets people living in their cars.
