Police chase leads to lockdown

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Hoover High School was put on lockdown Monday morning after a police chase lead to the driver of a white vehicle being arrested and the passenger fleeingg near Fairmount Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard. 

At 7:02 a.m. the call came in for someone pointing a gun out of a white vehicle in the area of 37th St. and El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego police Officer Humberto Hernandez said.

After police spotted the vehicle and the chase ensued, officers briefly lost sight of the car on Fairmount Avenue. The car then collided with another vehicle at the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard when both suspects ran from the scene.

Officers quickly took one suspect into custody while the other was last seen fleein down an alleyway. 

The chase and subsequent police activity also caused transit delays in the area along with the lockdown.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. the lockdown at Hoover High was lifted, though the suspect that fled was still at large.
