Hotel room tax is back on the council ballot after previous failed attempts

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Over the years there have been several attempts in San Diego to increase the hotel room tax. All have failed even though the tax is paid by visitors not residents.

The attempts failed because they were special interest oriented initiatives backed by Downtown hoteliers, labor workers and even the Chargers.

As KUSI’s Steve Bosh reports, despite these failures the tax is back on the council docket.
