House fire displaces five
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A house fire near Colina del Sol Park early Thursday caused #50,000 in damages and left one family of five in need of lodging.
The non-injury blaze in the 4000 block of Winona Avenue broke out at 5:30 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Crews needed 15 minutes to subdue the flames, SDFRD Capt. Joe Amador said.
The American Red Cross was called in to help the displaced residents, one adult and four children.
The fire erupted in an attached garage converted into a bedroom, but investigators were unable to make a conclusive determination of what caused the fire due to the extent of the structural damage, Amador said.
