How does earthquake insurance work and what does it cover?

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) –  The US Geological Survey estimates last week’s two earthquakes in Ridgecrest, CA caused $1 billion in damage.

But, if that same magnitude earthquake hit Los Angeles, Cal Tech figures the damages could reach into the $200 billion dollar range.

After seeing the videos and hearing the stories of people’s homes and belongings getting damaged, people are wondering if they should buy earthquake insurance.

Farmers Insurance Agent Jasmine Corona was in studio to explain how earthquake insurance works and what it would cover if you do decide to buy it.
