How to protect yourself from holiday scams

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The holidays make people more generous, but also awaken scammers looking to take advantage of the holiday good will.

Steve Sexton, financial consultant and CEO of Sexton Advisory Group, joined KUSI’s Elizabeth Alvarez to discuss how you can protect yourself against holiday scams this season.

More than two-thirds of consumers will do their 2021 holiday shopping online, according to the American Association of Retired Persons.

That puts more shoppers who aren’t aware of online scams at-risk.

Sexton described the variety scams waiting online such as “spoofing sites,” gift card scams, charity scams, delivery scams, and more.
