HUD Secretary Ben Carson and Mayor Faulconer tour affordable housing complexes in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Ben Carson, visited San Diego to tour some of our affordable housing complexes in the city with Mayor Faulconer.

Carson’s San Diego stop is part of a nationwide fact-finding bus tour focused on finding ways to fix the affordable housing crisis. Carson has already traveled through the southeast region of the United States, and now is examining the western region before reporting his finding to President Donald Trump.

Secretary Carson and Mayor Faulconer visited Bluewater and Stella apartment homes before hosting a roundtable discussion with San Diego’s community leaders about reducing the regulatory barriers to affordable housing.

KUSI’s Ed Lenderman spoke with Ben Carson about his visit just before he left downtown to pick up Mayor Faulconer.
