Human remains found in Tick Fire burn area

CANYON COUNTRY (KUSI) – Human remains were discovered Saturday in an area burned by the Tick Fire, authorities said.

A public works employee “stumbled across” the remains about 11:30 a.m. around Sand Canyon Road and Thompson Ranch Drive, Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives responded to the scene, she said. It was not clear whether the remains were related to the Tick Fire or predated the blaze.
