10 charged in San Francisco street gang killings
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Ten reputed members of two San Francisco street gangs have been charged with hunting and killing rivals to defend gang territory.
A federal indictment unsealed Friday charges the men with involvement in seven killings between 2016 and 2013. The victims included a 16-year-old boy who was killed at a birthday party in Richmond.
They’re also charged with nine attempted murders.
All 10 have been arrested or already were in prison or jail.
The indictment alleges that the two allied gangs sold drugs, committed robberies and used violence to defend their turf.
The charges include conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering, which carries a possible sentence of life in prison. Nine of the men are charged with murder in aid of racketeering, which carries a potential death sentence.
