2 California inmates convicted in slaying of 3rd inmate
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Two California inmates already serving life prison sentences face additional life terms after they were convicted of killing another prisoner.
Rudy Delossantos and Michael Robles were convicted Wednesday by a Sacramento County jury of murder and assault by a life prisoner for killing 33-year-old Humberto Torres in 2016.
Delossantos repeatedly stabbed Torres in the chest and back in a California State Prison, Sacramento, exercise yard, while Robles punched and kicked Torres in the torso, face and head.
Torres was also serving a life term for a Lake County murder.
Guards stopped the attack using pepper spray grenades.
Delossantos was convicted of an Orange County murder in 2006. Robles was convicted of multiple counts of attempted murder in Riverside County in 2005.
Sentencing is set for October 5.
