2 escape plane crash in Mojave Desert

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a plane has crashed in the Mojave Desert west of California’s Edwards Air Force Base.

Base spokeswoman Michelle Thomas says the plane was not an Air Force aircraft but the crash 15 miles (24 kilometers) west of the base did occur in Edwards’ airspace.

Kern County Fire Department Captain Matthew Wiggins says two people on board escaped the crash but he did didn’t have any information on their conditions. He said the two were the plane’s only occupants.
