3 investigated in vandalism of 24-plus Central Coast cars

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (AP) — Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies are investigating three people in connection with vandalism of more than two dozen vehicles that had windows shot out with an airsoft or BB gun in May and earlier this month.

The Sheriff’s Office says early Saturday a deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle believed connected to incidents in Santa Maria and Orcutt.

Deputies found a BB gun in the car, which was occupied by three males — ages 19, 18 and 16.

The adult driver was cited for expired registration and for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The 16-year-old was cited for a curfew violation.

The case remains under investigation.
