4 hurt, 2 units damaged in LA County apartment explosion

TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County authorities are investigating an explosion that injured four people at an apartment building.

Fire officials in Torrance say two apartment units were severely damaged in the blast Sunday afternoon.

Assistant fire chief Steve Treskes says the four victims were treated at the scene and then transported to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.

City News Service says streets around the building were closed as a hazardous materials team tested for possible natural gas.
