80-year-old fatally struck by Northern California train

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) — Police in Northern California say an 80-year-old man was struck and killed by a commuter train.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the unidentified man was standing at a Caltrain grade crossing in Redwood City around 5 p.m. Thursday when he was hit.

The San Mateo County Sheriff is investigating the crash.

It’s the fifth fatality on the commuter train this year. There were no injuries aboard the train.
