Alabama Lt. Gov. candidate’s wife hurt in gun accident
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The wife of Alabama’s Republican nominee for lieutenant governor has been hurt in a gun accident.
State Rep. Will Ainsworth of Guntersville tweeted that his wife Kendall was injured Tuesday afternoon in an accident involving a gun. He said the injury didn’t appear serious, but she was on her way to a hospital in Huntsville.
A later statement from Ainsworth’s campaign says Kendall Ainsworth was injured while shooting skeet with her family. It says Ainsworth is leaving the campaign trail for a few days to care for her.
The statement says the wound required staples, but it doesn’t say how the woman was injured. A campaign aide didn’t immediately return a text message Wednesday seeking details.
Ainsworth is running against Democratic minister Will Boyd in next Tuesday’s election.
