Antoni Porowski talks Boursin, avocados, life on ‘Queer Eye’
NEW YORK (AP) — In honor of his Polish roots, Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski includes updates on some of his parents’ recipes in his first cookbook, “Antoni in the Kitchen.”
He wrote the book, which comes out in September, with Mindy Fox. There’s a foreword by mentor and original “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” foodie Ted Allen.
Porowski didn’t start life as a foodie. He was about five years out of acting school, having studied psychology in college, when he auditioned for “Queer Eye,” an Emmy-winning Netflix reboot of the Emmy-winning Bravo show “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”
While Porowski has found his stride as the show’s food expert, he’s still working on the idea that he’s a “spokesperson” for the LGBTQ community. He says the notion stresses him out.
