AP Exclusive: Roberta Flack ready to sing again

NEW YORK (AP) — Six months after a collapse postponed a concert in her honor, Roberta Flack is being feted again. And this time, she’s ready to sing as well.

The 81-year-old legend spoke to The Associated Press this week about Saturday’s tribute planned by the Jazz Foundation of America . The organization was to give Flack a lifetime achievement award at its annual spring event in Harlem. But Flack — who had a stroke a couple of years ago — collapsed backstage and had to be rushed to the hospital for observation.

Flack says she’s looking forward to performing and is excited to be honored by the foundation. The organization helps musicians going through struggles.
