Arrested made in Newport Beach double killing
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A man has been arrested for the weekend killing of two people at a Newport Beach condominium.
Newport Beach police arrested 44-year-old Jamon Buggs on Thursday for murder. He’s being held on $1 million bail. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
Investigators believe the Huntington Beach man shot 48-year-old Wendi Sue Miller of Costa Mesa and 38-year-old Darren Partch. They were found dead Sunday in Partch’s Newport Beach condominium.
Acquaintances say Miller, who lived nearby, had given Partch a ride home.
Buggs was arrested Monday in neighboring Irvine in connection with a series of attempted weekend home burglaries. Police say a gun was fired in one incident.
Miller, a mother of two, ran a nonprofit advocacy group called Wings for Justice to help children in the family court system.
