Boy killed, 2 hurt by van near California school
OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say an 8-year-old boy was killed and a woman and a 9-year-old girl were injured when they were hit by a van outside a Southern California elementary school.
Police say the driver, a 17-year-old girl, stayed at the scene Monday in Oxnard and is cooperating with investigators.
Officials say all three victims were rushed to a hospital, where the boy died. The condition of the others wasn’t immediately known but the Ventura County Star reports the girl was conscious and talking to paramedics.
Oxnard police didn’t say what the relationship is between the victims.
The newspaper says the van’s driver had dropped off a relative’s kids at school shortly before the crash happened.
