Boy stabbed at Southern California elementary school

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County authorities say 12-year-old boy stabbed another boy during an altercation at an elementary school.

Sheriff’s Lt. Ignacio Somoano says the incident occurred Friday morning at Pico Canyon Elementary School in unincorporated Stevenson Ranch near Santa Clarita.

The boys were quickly separated and the victim, also 12 years old, was taken to a hospital for treatment of wounds that were not life-threatening.

The boy who allegedly brandished the knife was taken into custody.
