Complaint filed against senator who threatened state police

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A formal complaint has been filed against an Oregon Republican senator who drew criticism for threatening state police amid a GOP walkout over climate legislation.

Sen. Floyd Prozanski is the chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Conduct. He told Oregon Public Broadcasting Saturday that the committee will take up a formal complaint against Sen. Brian Boquist during a meeting in early July. Prozanski did not say who filed the complaint.

Boquist came under fire earlier this month after saying state police should come “heavily armed” if they attempted to bring him back to the Capitol during a Republican walkout. Republicans shut down the Senate for nine days to protest legislation aimed at lowering the state’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Boquist was one of three Republican senators not to appear on the Senate floor Saturday morning.
