Congressional caucus created to focus on naval education
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Congressmen from Rhode Island and California have established a congressional caucus that will focus on naval education.
U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin says he established the Congressional Naval Education Caucus with Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a California Democrat.
The caucus will work on issues including promoting strategic naval education, organizational learning and leadership development. Its members will study the art of war and naval service history and traditions, as well as advocate for lifelong learning in the naval profession.
Langevin and Panetta will serve as co-chairmen.
Rhode Island is home to the U.S. Naval War College, while the Naval Postgraduate School is in California.
Rear Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, the war college president, says the naval education system will continue to evolve to best serve the nation.
