Connecticut tribute to rapper Nipsey Hussle marred

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Fans of Nipsey Hussle are upset that someone painted on a mural of the slain rapper at a Connecticut skate park, but police say they don’t plan on pursing charges.

The Hartford Courant reports that an unidentified woman was video recorded by several people while spray painting cherries and other images over the mural. By Sunday morning, it appeared as though someone had made an effort to cover the graffiti with blue paint.

The mural was painted earlier this month by local artist Corey Pane. Pane said at the time he wanted to honor Hussle, shot to death March 31 in Los Angeles.

Police Lt. Paul Cicero says the park is a safe haven for graffiti artists and there’s nothing unlawful or illegal about painting over someone else’s work.
