Crews search for swimmer missing in ocean off Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — Rescue crews are searching for a swimmer missing in the ocean off Santa Monica.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says dive operations began late Tuesday morning and were resumed around dawn Wednesday.

A lifeguard team remained on the scene overnight to scan the water with sonar equipment.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the man was reported missing about a mile north of the Santa Monica Pier. He has not been identified.
