Documents: California motorist tried to kill self, passenger

FILLMORE, Calif. (AP) — Court records show a California motorist accused of murder after a fatal crash allegedly caused the wreck in an attempt to kill himself and his passenger.

Thirty-year-old Eduardo Robles has pleaded not guilty to charges including murder and attempted murder.

His passenger survived the May 31 crash in Fillmore, but the driver of a car Robles crashed into was killed.

The Ventura County Star on Monday cited records that show Robles told investigators he believed his passenger was involved with the police and that the government was putting pressure on him. Robles told detectives he wanted to end the pressure by killing himself and his passenger.

Robles admitted he had used cocaine earlier in the day and drank up to six cans of beer.

He’s due back in court June 26.
