Evacuation warning issued for 5 homes near California fire

CAMPO, Calif. (AP) — An evacuation warning has been issued for residents near a fast-moving brush fire in a desert area of California north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The order was issued Wednesday as the fire north of Campo quickly grew to 150 acres (60 hectares) in about two hours.

The residents affected live along what’s known as North Campo Truck Trail, a sparsely populated area about 50 miles southeast of San Diego. KNSD-TV reports that about five homes are affected.

Cal Fire says there is no containment.

It’s unclear how the fire began.
