Ex-LAPD officer pleads guilty to sexually abusing girl, 13

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors say a former Los Angeles police officer has pleaded guilty sexually assaulting a friend’s 13-year-old daughter.

The Los Angeles Times reports Friday that Kenneth Collard is expected to be sentenced to five years in prison this month.

The 52-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of performing a lewd act upon a child.

Investigators said he assaulted the teenager in her bedroom last year while spending the night at a fellow officer’s house in Torrance.

He was arrested after an investigation that included the analysis of forensic evidence.

Collard was with the LAPD for more than two decades years. He resigned after being charged.

In a statement, police spokesman Josh Rubenstein said Collard had “tarnished the badge.”
