Fall Movie Preview: ‘Joker’ gets a prestige makeover

LOS ANGELES (AP) — “Joker” director Todd Phillips is clearing up some misinformation that’s been circulating about his hotly anticipated take on the quintessential Batman villain.

In an interview with The Associated Press he says that Martin Scorsese was never going to produce the film and that he didn’t ask for it to premiere in competition at the Venice International Film Festival either. He also addressed the leaked script going around saying that if it is really the version from April 2018, anyone who read it should be ready for a big surprise when the film hits theaters Oct. 4.

Phillips’ “Joker” stars Joaquin Phoenix in the title role and explores how struggling comedian Arthur Fleck turned into the madman with a painted on smile.
