Fatal crash closes US 50 on Lake Tahoe’s southeast shore

ROUNDHILL, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that shut down the main highway on the southeast shore of Lake Tahoe.

The patrol says at least one person was killed when two trucks collided on U.S. Highway 50 near Roundhill at about 7 a.m. Thursday.

The highway was closed in both directions between Elks Point and Zephyr Cove.

It’s not clear when the road will reopen.

Motorists traveling between Lake Tahoe and Carson City are encouraged to take a detour south to the Kingsbury Grade.
