FBI raids target Mexican Mafia gang in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Federal agents are making several arrests and executing search warrants targeting the violent Mexican Mafia street gang in Los Angeles County.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller says the suspects were being processed Wednesday morning and will appear in court later in the day.

Federal prosecutors are expected to hold a news conference later Wednesday to announce the results of what they’ve dubbed “Operation Dirty Thirds,” targeting the Mexican Mafia, a prominent gang in the Los Angeles County jail, and other local street gangs.

FBI agents were seen leading people into an arrest processing area set up in Whittier Narrows, east of downtown Los Angeles.
