FEMA head denies intentionally misusing federal vehicles
WASHINGTON (AP) — The head of the government’s disaster relief agency says he never intentionally misused federal vehicles, following a report he was under investigation by the Homeland Security Department’s internal watchdog.
Brock Long made the comments Thursday at briefing on Hurricane Florence. The investigation was first reported by Politico.
Long says he’ll cooperate with any investigation and own up to any mistakes.
The inspector general’s office hasn’t responded to a request for comment from The Associated Press.
Long says the investigation was about vehicle usage. Politico reports he was under scrutiny for possibly misusing government resources and personnel on trips back home to Hickory, North Carolina, on the weekends.
Long says he’d never do anything unethical and would work to correct any mistakes if he made them.
