Football, Chicago dramas lead NBC to ratings victory
NEW YORK (AP) — It was a good week on television for Dick Wolf, one of the medium’s most prolific creators.
Each one of his trio of Chicago-set dramas on NBC finished among the Nielsen company’s top 20 shows last week. Nielsen says “Chicago Med,” ”Chicago PD” and “Chicago Fire” all reached more than 8 million viewers.
That’s particularly impressive given that Nielsen’s list is increasingly dominated by live or competition-related programs shows like “The Voice” and “The Masked Singer.”
Since Sunday night football was the most-watched program of the week, NBC beat all its rivals in the ratings. Fox, with a Thursday night football game between Kansas City and Denver, finished second.
“NCIS” on CBS remains the top scripted program.
Nielsen’s says CNN’s coverage of the latest Democratic presidential debate was seen by 8.6 million viewers.
