Fresno cops: Woman shot when neighbor unintentionally fires

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Fresno police say a woman was shot in the foot when a man in the apartment above her unintentionally fired a round while checking whether his handgun was loaded.

Lt. Michael Landon tells the Fresno Bee the bullet went through the floor Thursday night and struck the woman.

She was taken to a hospital, but is expected to recover.

Police say the man is cooperating with investigators and legally possessed the gun.
