Fumes in cockpit, cabin prompt return of Spirit jet to LA
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say fumes in the cockpit and cabin of a Spirit Airlines jet flying from Los Angeles to Denver prompted the crew to bring the plane back to Los Angeles International Airport.
The Los Angeles Fire Department says the aircraft’s oxygen masks dropped down for use by passengers as a precaution and that firefighters evaluated the passengers after the Airbus A321 landed. No injuries were reported.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says Flight 630 landed back at the airport at about 9:50 a.m. Friday.
The airline did not immediately respond to emails seeking comment.
The fire department says the cause of the fumes is under investigation.
