JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) — Federal officials say human bones have been found in Southern California’s Joshua Tree National Park.

The National Park Service said Monday that a group of hikers discovered the remains on May 3 near the Stubbe Springs trail in the desert park.

Park rangers and Riverside County sheriff’s investigators collected the remains. They also gathered evidence from the scene for forensics testing.
