House panel voting on subpoenas tied to Mueller report

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Judiciary Committee is expected to vote to authorize subpoenas for 12 people mentioned in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report , including President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Lawmakers are also voting Thursday to authorize subpoenas for documents and testimony related to President Donald Trump’s handling of immigration, including on the separation of migrant families at the southern border.

Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New York will make the final decision about issuing the subpoenas.

Trump tweeted about the vote shortly before the meeting was scheduled to begin. He said the witnesses “have already spent hours with Robert Mueller, and spent a fortune on lawyers in so doing.”

Trump added of the Democrats: “Enough already, go back to work!”
