Human remains found in Malibu

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County authorities are investigating human remains found in Malibu.

The Sheriff’s Department says the remains were located late Monday afternoon and homicide detectives and medical examiner investigators went to the scene Tuesday when there was sufficient daylight.

The remains were found near Latigo Canyon Road and Calicut Road, a rugged landscape interspersed with luxury homes.

The area is within the perimeter of the huge Woolsey fire which erupted west of Los Angeles in November and raged through the Santa Monica Mountains until it reached the sea.

The department has released no further information.
