Landfill searched for missing Southern California boy

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) — The mother and aunt of a missing Southern California boy have been charged with his murder as detectives search a high desert landfill for his body.

Jackee Contreras and her sister Jennifer Contreras face arraignment Tuesday in San Bernardino County Superior Court in Victorville.

Jackee Contreras is the mother of 6-year-old Duke Flores of Apple Valley, whose body is believed to be in a Victorville landfill.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s detectives aided by volunteers and dogs are searching an area with 600 tons (544.3 metric tons) of material.

Authorities have released few details of the case, other than that they believe the boy’s body was placed in a dumpster.

The women have been held without bail in a county jail since last week. It’s not clear if they have attorneys.
