Lawsuit: Ex-Citadel staffer drugged, sexually abused cadet
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A student at The Citadel has sued an ex-instructor at South Carolina’s military college, saying the instructor exchanged sex for avoiding discipline at the school.
The cadet sued Lt. Col. Kenneth Boes in federal court. The lawsuit says Boes touched the cadet inappropriately over six months and watched him shower. The suit says Boes once drugged him, leaving the cadet to later wake up naked in bed next to a naked Boes.
The cadet also sued The Citadel, saying the school was negligent.
Boes’ lawyer, Andy Savage, says the cadet is lying to blame someone else for his problems and to make a quick buck while damaging Boes’ impeccable reputation.
Boes was charged in 2018 with third-degree criminal sexual conduct against the cadet, but prosecutors dropped that charge in May.
