Los Angeles house fire kills 2, including 8-year-old boy

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A house fire in Los Angeles has killed two people, including an 8-year-old boy.

The Fire Department says 50 firefighters were called to a one-story home in the Leimert Park neighborhood at around 11 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say a Fire Department ambulance returning from another call arrived first and the crew helped two people escape, one of them from a window. Firefighters forced their way inside the home to rescue others.

Authorities say an 8-year-old boy and a 67-year-old woman died at the scene.

An 83-year-old woman and a 42-year-old woman were taken in fair condition to a hospital.

Two other people were treated for minor injuries.

An 11-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy weren’t injured.

Fire crews doused the blaze in 22 minutes. There’s no word on the cause.
