Los Angeles police seize $1 million worth of methamphetamine

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police have seized methamphetamine estimated to be worth $1 million.

A police statement says a narcotics detail was investigating activity at a South Los Angeles motel on Sunday when investigators observed a man armed with a handgun get into a vehicle.

The man was detained, and when investigators talked to the motel manager they determined two children were in a room.

Officers conducted a welfare check and found the children, ages 8 and 10, alone, as well as duffel bags containing more than 100 pounds (45.3 kilograms) of meth.

The father of the children was arrested for investigation of possession of methamphetamine for sale and child endangerment.

Another man was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The youngsters were placed with child welfare authorities.
